Hamilton All Galleries
Founded in 1914, the Art Gallery of Hamilton is Ontario's third largest public art gallery and owns a collection of 8,500 artworks. The gallery has three major collecting and programming strengths - 19th-century European, Historical Canadian and Contemporary Canadian. Open Tuesday through Sunday (hours vary), admission fees apply.
Established in 2001, Transit Gallery is dedicated to showing a mix of local area artists and showcasing talent from across Canada. This contemporary commercial art gallery has three gallery spaces spread over 1200 square feet. It features monthly solo exhibitions as well as group shows by gallery artists. Tues to Sat 10 am - 6 pm, Fri till 9 pm, Sun noon - 4 pm.
Under the Moon
Exhibits of historical and contemporary representational art are featured at this shop, which also offers an extensive inventory of fine art prints and art-related books. Rotating exhibits and art appraisal services are offered.
Showcasing the original watercolor works of resident artist, Sylvia Simpson, this shop and gallery space also features art by local artists and artisans and an array of unique gift ideas. Commissions are welcome.
The Print Studio
This non-profit facility, located in the artistic Jamesville community, offers access to an array of printmaking equipment and offers an array of classes for beginner to advance skill levels. A gallery space, studio rentals, classroom spaces and monthly receptions are offered.
The Picture Frame
In addition to offering comprehensive custom framing services and photo restoration solutions, this shop features a wide selection of fine art pieces, gifts, assorted limited edition prints and art posters.
